Discover the Ludington / Hamlin Lake Area

There are many things to do and see in the Ludington Area. Downtown Ludington offers a spacious beach at Stearns Park, which is also home to a mini-golf course, shuffleboard, concessions, and a playground. If you feel like strolling, take a walk on the long pier out to the Ludington North Breakwater Light–one of the most popular lighthouses on Lake Michigan. From Stearns Park, and especially from the lighthouse, you’ll have exceptional view of the S.S. Badger car ferry passing by as it makes daily cruises to and from Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Many fine dining and casual restaurants are near the downtown area. Golf courses and city tennis courts assure that golfers and tennis players will be accommodated on their vacation.

Directly across the lake from Willow by the Lake Resort is the popular Ludington State Park. Whether you enjoy hiking, canoeing, or just relaxing while enjoying natural settings, you’ll find plenty to see and do at the Ludington State Park. Swimming, boating, sailing, windsurfing, and water skiing are enjoyed by many on Hamlin Lake–a lake that is big enough for all. If you bring your own boat, Willow by the Lake Resort offers limited dock space available for guests to rent.

Hamlin Lake and its bayous offer an outstanding variety of fish–perch, crappie, bluegill, northern pike, large and small mouth bass, and walleye. Over 600,000 walleye planted in recent years are now game size.

Lake Michigan salmon and steelhead are seasonally plentiful at the Ludington State Park dam site, and dozens of charter boats are ready to take you salmon fishing from the Ludington harbor into Lake Michigan.
