Stratford "Off" the Avenue Theatre Festival

August 5th-7th AND August 12th-14th, 2022

The annual Stratford on the Avenue Theatre Festival is a production of the Stage Left Theatre Company, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of local individuals dedicated to providing a variety of theatre opportunities to the community and, eventually, hosting educational workshops and children’s theatre events. Friday and Saturday performances generally begin at 7pm and the Sunday performance begins at 2pm.

The event features classical play performances by the likes of Shakespeare, Molière, Wild, etc. The 2021 event included a classic performance of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors and an abridged, comedic adaptation of Julius Caesar, both directed by Nathan Anderson. Half the proceeds from the 2021 show were donated to the Childhood Cancer Campaign, in memory of Will Flewelling, a close friend of Nathan’s who had recently passed away from cancer. For 2022, the classic production will be Measure for Measure, preceded by a comedic adaptation of Tempest, entitled “Got Milk” and directed by Terra McIntosh.

The event has traditionally been held at Rotary Park (formerly City Park) in downtown Ludington but will be moving to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts for the 2022 season and going forward, hence the name change from Stratford “on” the Avenue to Stratford “Off” the Avenue.

There will also be t-shirts for sale at the performances with all proceeds to benefit upcoming Stage Left programs like their Youth Theatre Project, acting workshops, and educational scholarships.

Auditions are scheduled for May 29th and 30th at 6pm at LACA. For more information, visit
