Visit downtown Ludington’s Legacy Plaza for a break from shopping, or to enjoy a take out meal under the big shelter. This newly renovated outdoor gathering space is located on North James Street, right in the heart of downtown Ludington.
Surrounded by local shops and restaurants, the plaza features a pavilion, restroom facility, entertainment stage, a gas fireplace, seating, and decorative lighting.

Through a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, this $2.1 million project came to completion and was dedicated on July 1, 2021. The plaza is designed to honor the legacy of the Native Americans who lived in Ludington. It also looks to honor the lumber and maritime industries that are so engrained in how Ludington grew as a city.
In November of 2022, the Michigan Chapter of the American Public Works Association recognized Legacy Plaza with the Project of the Year Award for structures costing $1 million to $5 million.

The Ludington Skate Plaza is a popular spot for kids with skateboards or in-line skates, and also draws spectators to Stearns Park.

In 2021, the Pere Marquette Charter Township unveiled the new Pere Marquette Conservation Park, located on 300 acres of former Dow property.

Hamlin Lake is home to several parks and numerous dunes for exploration and leisure. Pack a picnic, cast your line, and enjoy the sites.
